What were the technical issues that they’re referring to? I remember seeing gameplay that look clunky with odd power progression at launch(or maybe a beta), but I don’t know how it progressed from there. I’m not a Diablo-style ARPG player so I never picked it up, but can anyone fill me in?

I checked the reviews & forum posts every now and then but from what I could gather it was buggy as shit. I think they also severely dumbed down the game’s progression at some point during the alpha / beta phases.

Haven’t played it myself, but from what a friend who has played it told me and from what I’ve read, the game was pretty buggy after launch, and the devs didn’t put much post-launch work into it.

Also, it’s an isometric ARPG, akin to Diablo, rather than a MOBA. Check out Last Epoch if you’re looking for a good ARPG.

Every single time i’ve checked it out, it felt like a cheap eastern Diablo clone, except it had horrible networking issues, and a never-ending development cycle, that somehow never delivered any real content.

Quite a big shame that this doesn’t even have LAN

I played it on launch with friends. It was an arpg with better combat than most and pretty great graphics. Those are ALL of the positive things I have to say about it. It was so buggy it was hard to play without crashing. We lost progression multiple times. The servers were atrocious, the first 6 hours of playtime were trying to log in and not crashing. We ended up refunding it obviously.

Unfortunately the ARPG genre is super stale right now and we were looking to support any project we could. No rest for the wicked is the best thing to come out in ages and it’s still got a ways to go in EA before I give it a proper play through.

Sad but not a surprise. Had it on my wishlist for a long time, hoping they could get their shit together. Kinda was the only hack’n slay that gave me the same vibes that Diablo gave me in regards to the whole worldbuilding and atmosphere. I guess the genre is just dead. Oh well.

I guess the genre is just dead.

Diablo IV’s current season is pretty well regarded, from what I’ve read.

      The Last Epoch is good.

      Grim Dawn is fantastic.

And of course, Path of Exile is doing Path of Exile things.

What’s this “genre is dead” thing?

Diablo 4 is garbage and so is “Blizzard”. Last Epoch is a completely different vibe. Grim Dawn is a completely different vibe, boring, and doesn’t have an archer class. Path of Exile is boring and a completely different vibe.

        Next.
