I have a sinking feeling we are going to be in for a worse time. And there a lot of total fools out there - there are the people that have put identity over solidarity on the left/liberal side - peeling off a lot of white blue collar workers that probably have family histories of voting for Democrats and sending them off to sit out, waste their vote on kooky third parties, or vote for donnie enthusiastically, and all to give a gigantic “fuck you” to those they perceive have spurned them, even if they get royally fucked economically, and will only suffer more if they get the civil war so many right wingers seem to actually look forward to… Then there are the tankies, trying to make out that voting for Democrats is a vote to carry out genocide in Gaza…or the people that think all of the Democrats are far too old and haven’t done enough in 4 years to reverse all the Republican damage, or think that Democrats somehow reversed Roe, etc…

I’m voting blue no matter who (and I think Biden actually has done a great deal of things the Democrats have done a very bad job at advertising), but right now the Presidential race is a clusterfuck when it comes to the optics. And sadly, that’s all that matters for a huge swathe of voters.
