So the parakeets have figured out my lamp feeder. I tried some fine tuning, but they still are at it with this latest variant. No trouble at all landing on it. I think they don’t like it as much though, they only stay for a short while now, i kinda hope they end up thinking it’s not worth it anymore.

Do you think a wider plate would make this harder or easier for the parakeeets to get to the food?

I wonder if you can block off some of the perch so they have less room to land? I live in a cooler area, but our larger birds will usually not spend much time bothering with feeders with small perches.

It’s really only the parakeets, i have seen the jay try to jump onto it unsuccessfully, the pigeons look at it quite a bit, sit on the top or on the arm, but i haven’t even seen them attempt to get to the food. Magpies and crows haven’t shown interest yet. That’s all the larger birds in the yard.

Yesterday was good though, they just ate a bit and then left. The days before when i had a different setup, they clogged it until it was empty, hanging there with two birds at once. If they now stop by for a quick snack only and then leave again, i would find that kinda cool actually. Let’s see what happens today, haven’t seen the parakeets yet :)

        Thanks.
