1983: Doomsday (https://althistory.fandom.com/wiki/1983:_Doomsday)
Started over a decade ago and being updated to this day 1983: Doomsday looks at the events which unfolded On 26 September 1983 and what if they happened differently.
Stanislav Yevgrafovich Petrov Was a Lieutenant colonel in the Soviet Air Defence Forces. He was a officer in charge of the command center for the Oko nuclear early-warning system when on this day it reported a missile was launched by the United States against the Soviet Union and was followed by 5 more. Petrov broke protocol and refused to alert the Kremlin which was the correct choice as the “missiles” were not real and was simply a glitch in the Oko system.
In this time line Colonel Petrov was sent to another installation before September 26, 1983. The officer on duty believed the reports to be true and alerted the Kremlin who counter attacked. The United States then launched a real attack. The first alert was proven to be false but it was too late the United States,USSR and People’s Republic of China all were nuked and used their nukes. The timeline shows how humanity rebuilds and how groups such as the new League of Nations try to pick up the pieces.
