I have the Diablo 3 Switch, and the bitcoins joycons never developed any noticeable drift. However, I have lost the right controller and need to replace it. I primarily, but not exclusively, play with my ProController and am missing being able to use my Switch hand held.
Have the newer joycons had the drift issue eliminated? Considering the joycon lost is my fourth set, and the only set without drift, I would rather not purchase another set if drift is still happening.
yes, if you want a controller that will never exhibit drift you have to find one that specifically markets itself as using hall-effect joystick assemblies. all other controllers will (eventually) exhibit stick drift.
Yea they still do, fortunately it’s pretty cheap to get replacement hall effect joysticks. I found a pack of four on amazon for 54$, so i was able to replace all of them
Is there any soldering involved in the replacement? I am ass at soldering.
No, ifixit has guide to replace sticks, check it out.
Will do, thanks.
Here’s the link: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Left+Joy-Con+Joystick+Replacement/113182
There’s a similar one for right joystick, there’s a slight difference in both.
Be aware that you’ll need to calibrate any replaced sticks in the Switch settings somewhat regularly, especially if you resync the joycons with multiple Switches.
You bet they do!
Yep, and Nintendo still fixes them for free AFAIK.
Joycons suck, badly.
Apart from the drift and poor battery life,
they feel bad in your hands. Here’s what I did/do:
- Install Atmosphere
https://github.com/Atmosphere-NX/Atmosphere - Install MissionControl
https://github.com/ndeadly/MissionControl - Connect any good controller(s) you have laying around,
for me it’s been my DualShock 4 PlayStation controllers.
The DS4 controllers play much better,
and have been surviving for much longer as well.Dont just go around telling people to jailbreak their switch acting like it’s easy and there no ramifications, that’s how you get your Nintendo account banned and all your digital purchases taken away from you.
Never said it was easy,
although this guide claims it is:
https://rentry.org/SwitchHackingIsEasyAlso, if you paid for Games/DLC,
then you’re in your right to re-claim those games any way you see fit if Nintendo dares to take them away from you.Care to explain that last part? As with any drm protected digital purchase, you are buying a license to use their copy not own the content itself. They are absolutely within their right to pull it whenever they see fit, similar to buying movies and tv shows from a service like iTunes or Amazon should the listening deals with the studios run out.
If you buy a copy of something,
then no one should be allowed to steal your copy away from you.As long as you have the receipt to show that you own a copy of the game,
you should be allowed to play it any way you see fit.I wish that was how it worked, but that’s not the digital world we live in.
Any way you see fit does not have to mean downloaded from official services.
I won’t post links here,
but there are other means of getting the content you rightfully own. It’s not stealing if you already own a copy.
Pirating cracked copies of software you own a digital license to is absolutely not a good solution to go recommending people online as if it’s something that is also easy to do and won’t have ramifications.
I have a Nintendo Pro controller which I use primarily, however sometimes I want my joy cons connected to the Switch itself.
