Oof I do this and don’t have Autism to my knowledge. The stimulus is somehow distracting and when you really need to focus it can be a problem!
It’s not just you it’s very common. Listening to music actually uses a decent bit of brain power so turning it down frees up some of that

Back in the day I had 4 15" subwoofers crammed into a Chevy Cavalier. You had to turn the radio down to see at all.
On busy parking lots I even open the windows to also hear what’s happening outside.
That seems like an all around good idea to avoid accidents happening
Does Attention economy describe that phenomenon or is that term just used for longer-term events? Or is it even something different?

That’s a CD player
There are an am/fm button and multiple memory buttons. So it could be the control panel for both?
That is a BMW E46 Generation 3-Series with the “Business CD” audio option which does include an AM/FM radio tuner…
…that being said you can clearly see it’s playing Track 11 of the CD…
…that being said I think “Radio” is commonly used generically for many devices playing audio content.

So they left out the receiver but kept the am fm button? They could have used a cover/ blind instead. Why wouldn’t they do that? We live in a strange world.

No. I misread it. Sorry for the confusion. It all does make so much more sense now. :)
