We need more amalgamation of councils. Good idea to have local representation, but not so local. Can’t imagine the nimbys in nice burbs wanting to join with the plebs though.
I propose the state government forms an office of local council that handles all the contracts for rubbish collection, road maintenance, planning and so on across the state.
Councils need to be further amalgamated and reduced to a representative body only that has no control over the day to day operations and certainly no control over purse strings.
