The Book of Mormon is the story of a group of people that were divided by skin color. The whites were peaceful and civilized and delightful. The dark skinned people were lazy and savage and loathsome. While there was a wonderful period late in their history where they lived together in harmony, eventually the dark skinned people became wicked and savage again and killed all the white people. The last white person hid their scriptures and history on golden plates in a mountain to protect it from the dark skinned people until it could be found by another white person in the future who would reveal their story to the world (via white missionaries).
