I know they said the mod is too big for nexus, but why did they choose only gog for the release? Steam has great support for mods in their store. Enderal released on steam just fine.

Now when you install fallout London it uses your fallout 4 install, so you can’t switch between games. If your f4 is on steam you have to downgrade it and disable steam cloud. If they released on steam they could have just make it that people can install the mod only if they own f4. Then they could have just include all files needed in their own install, and wouldnt have to use your f4 game. No downgrading, working cloud saves, both games playable. If they didnt want to pay 100 bucks for steam page, they could have just ask me, I would pay for it.

I think they said GoG provided technical support or something, right? I imagine there was a clause in whatever they did heavily encouraging releasing it on GoG. In any case, for me at least I much rather prefer it being on GoG than steam just for DRMs sake. I’ve transitioned to always buying on GoG first, rather than steam.

The steps for the Steam installation already include downgrading and disabling updates until launch.

Downgrading was surprisingly easy, so hopefully Bethesda can’t break it until I finish FOLON.

Luckily, despite Bethesda’s blatant attempts to indefinitely stall the release with their conveniently timed updates and lack of heads up, GoG stepped in and saved the day.

So currently Bethesda can’t do anything to break it, even with updates. GoG allows players to play older versions with no risk of forced updates, and even if you’re on Steam, the team has made a downgrader and instructions on how to stop automatic updates.

Wow, I forgot I stopped caring about fallout until I saw this. I should go back and play the better ones…wait…I think I still have Hellgate: London…that was a great trainwreck of a game!

Fuck yeah. Was worried with the updates after the succes of the tv show. It destroyed a lot of the mods. Glad this pack came out.

Playing it now. I had to buy FO4 GOTY edition in order to play but that was fortunately on sale for £12. Encountered one game breaking bug in the first hour where I had to look at the floor of a train to avoid a crash to Windows desktop after the opening credits. However since then I’ve had no issues.

They seem to have leaned into the roleplaying elements of the series which I really appreciate. I felt that was missing from FO4 when I played that back on consoles when it came out. I’m not sure if, tonally, London will be a suitable location for a Fallout game given how heavily they lean into Americana - and a specifically American style of Hoover-esque Cold War paranoia. We’ll see how it goes as the game progresses.

More thoughts: it is definitely a mod in terms of VA and general production values but the missions have been very good. Seriously impressive effort from this team.

So if I claimed a “free” copy of this mod from gog then how will that help me install it vs downloading the mod from another site? I understand it requires a downgraded FO4 to play.

That shot of London at the end of the release trailer (I don’t know if the trailer is on the gog page) is really cool
