I watched it but had no idea it was a Sandman spinoff. As in their show of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman? I never would have connected the two.
The show was fine. Good concept but not fully developed. It felt rushed to tie ends together and I wondered while watching if they already knew they weren’t getting another season.
I loved Sandman’s first season. I’m going to resub to Netflix just to watch the second season when they release it.
Now that you know this is connected, is there any connection you can think of?
Uh, British and magical? Lol. I assume the linkage is actually somewhere in the Sandman comics (which I haven’t read through). I can’t think of any direct link between the two Netflix shows.
Death of the Endless is in both, played by same actress. Despair also shows up in Dead Boy, but I can’t remember if she showed up in season 1 Sandman. But generally I think they were only meant to be tangentially linked, so you didn’t have to watch one to enjoy the other.
Interesting that this is the first I’ve ever heard of this. Did they forget to tell anyone they made it?
I definitely missed this. As someone who was a huge fan of Doom Patrol I was excited for a spin off and continuation. I was bummed when I learned about the recasting, but still excited.
I’ve been waiting for it to appear on HBO, only to find out it was on Netflix.
I thought the first season was alright, had some good moments and an interesting premise. I’m not surprised it was cancelled however.
From the other thread on !showsandmovies@lemm.ee, it seems to be due to the issues with Neil Gaiman
Oh damn, I did not know about the allegations of sexual assault. Definitely makes sense companies now backing away from working with him.
Oh, I heard there was something but didn’t know it had ballooned to five.
I used to follow Amanda Palmer a fair bit and always got bad vibes from her and Gaiman’s relationship. I didn’t think he was sexual abuser necessarily, but nor does it shock me to see him being accused.
Really enjoyed season 1 and was looking forward to more. FU Netflix.
