Republican former Rep. Liz Cheney said she believes a GOP majority in the House in 2025 would present a “threat” to the country.

“I believe very strongly in those principles and ideals that have defined the Republican Party, but the Republican Party of today has made a choice and they haven’t chosen the Constitution. And so I do think it presents a threat if the Republicans are in the majority in January 2025,” Cheney said in an interview that aired on “CBS Sunday Morning.”

Cheney, who represented Wyoming in Congress from 2017 to 2023, said current House Speaker Mike Johnson was “absolutely” a collaborator in the effort to overthrow the 2020 election and he should not be speaker in 2025.

Liz Cheney wants to act like she’s so altruistic and such a hero, but the fact of the matter is that if she really gave a fuck she would leave the Republican Party. Anything other than that is bullshit lip service. And that’s not to mention all the damage her father did, but I guess I can’t fault her for who her father is.

It’s disgusting people fall for her bullshit, she is a awful human who paved the way for Trump extremists and now she is trying to act like she had no part in it. She helped all this extremist shit along the way until it got too real for her and now wants to act like she fought the good fight the whole time. She’s a coward and pathetic excuse for a human

Lolwut This is the obscene level of grandstanding I’d expected from a communist on twitter. She’s a highly relevant conservative representative, and she’s not gonna give up power for her values.

Because when someone said “If she had integrity she’d leave the party” you accused them of being a hysterical Twitter communist.

Well yeah. Politics is about power. It would never be a good move to let integrity get in the way of power. Think about it from her position this is likely the greatest opportunity available to her, and hermaking these moralist conservative statements may position her to the left of fascism or it may just help her cope with being one of the bad ones.

… No one deserves representation like her.

When the daughter of Dick Cheney is saying the Republicans are too radical, that’s a big fucking problem.

kissinger’s death recently has led me to understand a few things. your hard right republicans pretrump are realpolitik. they want america on top no matter the cost. MAGA is a grift that’s all about squeezing every penny out of the hyper-religious and or uneducated and or fascists. they don’t care where america comes out in the end. cheney(s) et al want america on top no matter the cost. MAGA wants themselves on top no matter the cost. project for the new american century is USA USA USA no matter the morals. MAGA is we’re number 1 (but just us not you)

All the politicians are in it for their own personal gain. They use the aesthetic of whatever of whatever ideology has the most support in their local area.

Just cause she is “acting” like a human she should not be trusted, she has very radical views and would happily take away all your rights. She is just as responsible for the situation we are in as any Maga and just because she decided to act like some level headed republican doesn’t excuse her from all the harm she has done. She was praising the Supreme Court for ending roe v wade and voted every single Trump fascist justice in with a smile

Absolutely correct. The enemy of my enemy is not necessarily my friend. Cheney may make a show of opposing Trump, but she still supported the policies that he did while he was in office.

Cheney came to Washington in 2016, along with Donald Trump. Didn’t like him, she said, but she supported his policies on issues like abortion and gun control. She voted with him more than 90 percent of the time.

She might be opposed to Trump but she is still a dirt bag.

She is not wrong about this. Republicans no longer want a democracy (a republic is a democracy). They want to install an autocrat.

Stop voting for Republicans they don’t believe in our democracy.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Republican former Rep. Liz Cheney said she believes a GOP majority in the House in 2025 would present a “threat” to the country.

And so I do think it presents a threat if the Republicans are in the majority in January 2025,” Cheney said in an interview that aired on “CBS Sunday Morning.”

And we have to ensure that we don’t have a situation where the election that might be thrown into the House of Representatives is overseen by a Republican majority,” she said.

In her new book set to release Tuesday, Cheney issues a strong rebuke of the Republican Party, its leadership and Trump, who she calls “the most dangerous man ever to inhabit the Oval Office,” according to a copy of “Oath and Honor” obtained by CNN.

Cheney served a prominent role as vice chair of the House’s January 6 committee, which uncovered critical details about Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

She has vowed to do whatever is necessary to stop Trump from returning to the White House, including leaving open the door to a 2024 presidential run herself.

The original article contains 411 words, the summary contains 178 words. Saved 57%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

“Republican former Rep. Liz Cheney said she believes a GOP majority in the House in 2025 would present a “threat” to the country.” So pretty much the same as it’s been since at least Reagan, then?
