From what my friend told me about Saudi Arabia, they have a similar mindset. With their extreme puritanical outlet, meeting women is near impossible. Being a top isn’t considered being gay, but being a bottom is considered disgraceful.
Except this view has been around since ancient greece. It’s not mental gymnastics at all. It’s just placing more value on the bottom/top spectrum instead of the straight/gay spectrum. Not that we should be viewing anyone as disgraceful. It’s not anymore irrational or any less irrational than the homophobia western societies have.
