Also, in my area I see a lot of beautiful old pre-1950s houses get torn down to be replaced by a dozen shoebox condominiums stacked three high.

I like to post that in 1960, we had a minimum wage of $1.00/hour and the average US home cost $11,000.00
Whenever I do, someone will point out that houses today are, on average, bigger.
They never mention tiny homes and six people sharing a two bedroom apartment…
As with so many things, you can blame Ronald Reagan.
Prior to Reagan, there was a thing called "the Fairness Doctrine.’ A company could only own two local radio stations [AM and FM] and one VHF television station. If a station ran an editorial, they had to allow the opposition equal time for rebuttal. And half hour commercials like “The Transformers” and “GI Joe” were not allowed.
Blame Nixon.
His 1968 campaign was a classic example of ‘Something For Everybody.’ He told the hippies that he was going to end the Vietnam War and appealed to the Right with attack dog Spiro Agnew. He also knew that a lot of Southern folks were unhappy with the Civil Rights Act, so he gave them a ton of dog whistles.
Before Nixon, the GOP had a sizeable Liberal Wing. By 1980 those guys were gone.
What’s funny about the whole RINO thing is that St. Ronald Reagan himself said that the Eleventh Commandment was that no GOP should trash talk another. Ronnie said he wanted a ‘big tent’ where all Conservative voices could be heard.

Weiner was a creep. I live in New York and no one wanted him to fight. Everyone wanted him gone ASAP.
He fought the only way he knew how; by lying.
At the time, a lot of people wanted Al to push back. I’m glad he didn’t because sometimes you have to lose a battle to win a war.
Wonderful. I can remember 2012, [when dinosaurs walked the Earth] and all election disputes could be covered by a retired school teacher with a clip board. Thank God we have armed military taking over!
Back in 1960, the US minimum wage was $1.00/hour and the price of the average home was $11,000.00 In those days.
note =if you feel the need to say that houses are bigger today, or we have better technology, please add how inflation was the driver that made that stuff happen.
Never forget, Al Franken resigned when old pictures of him goofing around came out.
As always, Trump’s people manage to outdo everyone.
“Anti-woke” water is a thing, and it doesn’t need no stinking vodka to make people stupid.
If a Red Hat did me a good turn, I’d certainly try to do him a favor in return.
Trump just spits on them and they keep lapping it up.
No one on the Left has as much contempt for Trump’s base as Trump does.
Trump had a lottery to raise money; the big prize was dinner at the White House with Trump himself.
Take a wild guess how many MAGoos were feted in the White House?
That’s right. Zero.

Here’s what you’re ignoring.
A good executive has a staff that reminds him of these things. Even if it was a brief meeting, Trump should have been aware that he’d had a sit down with them before.
Either Trump was reminded and forgot, or he’s too incompetent to set up a basic system like this.
[off topic]
Mike Hammer was immensely popular for years. “My Gun Is Quick” and “I, the Jury” were full of anti-gay slurs.
Currently there are Pride Month flags flying from Mickey Spillane’s bar in NYC.
It’s heroin, without the ‘e.’
Not heroin, but Holmes did go undercover at least once in an opium den. “The Man With The Twisted Lip” iirc.
I saw that coming a mile away.

If you’d put this in a satire movie circa 2014 people would have called it too over the top.
I get annoyed when people blame ‘the media’ for Trump getting elected.
The media reported every stupid and/or horrible thing he said, and his voters chose to ignore it.
A lot of what people call maturity is really just being too tired to try something.
