It is a fair point, being obese and poor can definitely be a a horrific feedback loop to get out of.
In developed countries anyways, you don’t really see it in places where food is scarce, of course.
I’m more fascinated by the countertop. Although thin and probably composite rather than natural stone, it’s still stone and that can get really expensive. It might honestly get more expensive to do this and fix it later than just do it right from the getgo.
Here’s a springboard article, if you want to do your own research.
The woman, based on whom the term was coined (the psychiatrist never even talked to her) wrote an autobiography “I became Stockholm Syndrome”.
There’s also the works of Allan Wade, a Canadian psychologist, who has talked to the victims throughout his career.
Basically when you’re at the whims of an armed lunatic, you might cozy up to them in order to appease them. The victims were also really afraid of the police coming in and shooting them. Which is pretty justified, considering the police couldn’t even identify the perpetrator before conceding on his demands and bringing in his prison buddy.
The guy with a gun, whom they’ve been talking to for days and has not hurt them in the slightest looked much less dangerous than the impending doom of the police barging in and shooting the wrong person.
Stockholm syndrome was made up to cover for police incompetence
Oh god, that reminded me of this statue. It has a LOT going on. So many questions. Perhaps they’re better left unanswered.
Technically molecules consist of ions, not atoms. Though now that I look it up, they’re used more or less interchangeably in English in this context.
Gets pretty deep the more you think about it. There are 0 hydrogen atoms in a molecule of water. Does that mean the sun is a negative star?
What I’m saying is, life has no meaning.
I love how every single source emphasizes it’s “single-planet”, just because it’s by Hello Games.
Cause fantasy games with dragons are famously known to all contain interstellar travel.
The only Jesse Watters clip I can get behind is the one where his mom tells him how disappointed she is in him for lying to people for profit.
The US also has a tendency of exporting its nonsense to the rest of the world. So it’s not like we’re safe out here watching the clown show.
See Myanmar justifying its 2021 coup d’état by “election fraud” (wonder where they got that idea) and Bolsonaro’s fanbase doing a more violent copycat version of Jan 6 in Brasil as examples.
Be careful, we might have some citrus-stealing whores in this community
A gag order has since been lifted. Whether it’s the one that would cover this, I have no bloody clue.
And frankly the fact, you even need to think about which gag order is in effect, is some peak trash reality TV drama. Which figures.
I love how just a year ago, he was the one to call out FTX.
People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones and all that…
The whole industry seems like a criminal plot at this point.
Horseshoe crabs are not crusteceans, they are early chelicerates.
They have an open circulatory system, where the blood (heamolymph) freely spills out of the arteries into surrounding tissues, so a small clot probably wouldn’t cause issues. Think of it like a cyst, sometimes if an infection can’t be removed by the immune system, your body will just enclose it in a capsule, so it can’t spread.
Sadly a lot of the companies harvesting them will just kill and sell them for bait anyways.
Of those that are released, about a third die. Not to say about the decrease in overall fitness, which can lead to them falling prey more easily.
It’s obviously a traumatic experience for the animal in the best case scenario and that is going to reflect on their ability to survive in the wild.
It is not an anticoagulant, quite the opposite actually. The blood (limulus amoebocyte lysate) will coagulate at the slightest hint of gram-negative bacteria and their endotoxins.
It’s most likely a defense mechanism against bacterial infections.
It’s widely used in medicine to check for bacterial contamination of injectable pharmaceuticals.
I just don’t pretend 😅 Most people will get it if you’re honest and those who won’t, aren’t very good people to keep around.
