Here’s my best shot at explaining. Unlike my grandma, you’ll know more about video game and internet culture already :)

The character is Alyx from Half-Life 2. “Source Filmmaker” is an app that lets you pose and animate characters from Valve games and is frequently used for meme videos. It was likely used to pose Alyx’s face this way.

Here is a picture of this meme that I saw before this one (I think it’s the original for the format).

This was most a meme from a few years ago, around the time when air fryers were becoming more popular and squid game had recently released.

The meme pokes fun at the “elitist” attitude many people with air fryers had, as they swore by using them for everything. A key trait is the smirk expression the person in the picture has.

    Context:

Façade is an artificial intelligence-based interactive story created in 2005 by Michael Mateas and Andrew Stern.

    Façade

The engine does have some quirks, however; for example, saying the word “melon” at any time will result in the player being kicked out immediately, due to the slang term referring to a woman’s breast, despite other meanings not used in a vulgar way.

  • I’m not sure how or why he would’ve come across that data, but as far as competing companies go…

There definitely weren’t any widespread virus outbreaks in December 2021 and 2022 which affect the ability to smell, that’s for sure! /s

Kidding aside, maybe covid was just a really complex form of corporate sabotage between candle companies 🤔

  • These type of thoughts are the kind that could only come to somebody when they’re tripping balls and/or in serious harmony with nature.

In all seriousness, the first principle makes me think of the many religious people who attribute rights to a god figure or figures. In the religion I grew up in, god was the figure who gave specifically white men certain rights. He is also the one who determined what rights many people didn’t have. I personally find comfort in the second principle, that the universe is “self-referent in its being and self-normative in its activities”.

Principle five seems ambiguous about the “roles” of Earth’s subjects. I think that’s where many people would disagree with one another, since certain roles are subjective (ex: in national conflict, hunting animals, natural resource extraction/usage).

The last principle really makes me appreciate our relationship with the universe and what humanity is capable of, despite how dire existence in our world often feels.

  • I bought a Japanese “new 3ds” system about 2 years ago off of eBay and I’ve been using it a lot! I’ve been loving the Ace Attorney Trilogy lately, but I also played

    • SM64 via a homebrew 3ds port
    • NSMB2
    • SM 3D Land
    • Shantae 1 & 2 (gbc and dsiware, but I wanna play the 3rd, which is a native 3ds game)
    • Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition (dsiware, originally gba)
    • Pilotwings Resort
    • CTGP-7 (great mk7 modpack)
    • So, so much Picross

My favorite 3ds game is Pushmo! I played it when I was younger, but it’s still fantastic.

I also loved the 3ds ecosystem outside of strictly games. Mii maker, Streetpass and Nintendo Video were all really fun extras.

Also the VB emulator Red Viper just recently released, so if there’s ever a time to try virtual boy games, it’s now! 3D baybeeee!!

A lot of teams behind emulation, game modding and FOSS software have their fair share of controversy. I think it comes with the territory of having public communities and a dev structure where strangers can often get involved and contribute. I don’t really blame developers for wanting compensation for their work, but sounds like they went about it in a poor way. Also the TOTK situation was a very bad decision and likely sealed their fate.

Still, IP Protection laws in the United States serve exclusively corporate interests. I don’t celebrate this; it is actively harming the rights of consumers. Corporations constantly steal from consumers, profiting off of our data and standing on the backs of workers.

And piracy is a service issue. If you don’t have fair prices for games and methods of access for people to play the way they want to, you will have piracy. Also for people who can’t afford the prices, piracy will happen.
