😆 some days i feel unhelpful! i was thinking after posting, i don’t mind saying i’m a therapist, just prefer not to identify my specific field/licensure.
edit - … as i’m trying to make myself not-too-identifiable.

helping professional. i won’t be more specific here.
dafuq kinda nonsense is this? lesse, a president who supports wiping out Palestinians is better for Palestinians because then they get more aid?
???
welcome to fashion. you can add things to the body that emphasize good stuff, detract from stuff you don’t like, draw the eye in a particular direction, create an illusion, break up an expanse, etc.
enjoy!
i posted about having this experience on reddit a year or two ago and people were pissed? but yeah, empty shelves and barely any employees. it sucks, because i used to enjoy going there to see what’s new.
unfortunately, this is often true in big cities as well.
things are a lot better in that regard than they used to be. dv is no longer by default regarded as a “private matter,” laws and resources have improved.
on the flip side, dv can be hard to prove, especially to a busy cop or judge. and policing is also not a profession averse to abusers.
edit typo
i thought you were serious. and then i thought you weren’t. honestly, now i’m not sure, but i’m impressed either way.
what the heck… you’re really super into amazon, huh?
for my own gaming purposes i would agree, but i have seen my son do some very interesting stuff with borderlands 2 and payday 2 builds.
i mean, a great many people don’t appreciate being told they are murderers. it provokes defensiveness rather than an openness to pro-vegan arguments.
… so let’s just speedrun it?
years ago, i lived in a community where someone had spray-painted the dumpster. it said something like “tear it all down and start over.” i endorsed that at the time.
now i am way too invested in way too many people to see it go down like that.
MAGAs. because american conservatives are often also american evangelists, and they’ve got some weird ideas about israel. those conservatives who don’t necessarily personally believe weird stuff about israel (ie the jews having a homeland means the second coming of jesus and everything will be great for evangelical christians) are being brought along by the right-wing propaganda on this issue.
challenge. and yeah, i could have gone for something more recent, but i figured if you like endtroducing and haven’t heard this, you will probably appreciate it.
i will confess, i find it harder to like Frank Lloyd Wright and Picasso than i used to. i suppose this is the meaning of “never meet your heroes.” they very often disappoint; sometimes you might never see their work the same way.
i figure, if you dig far enough into most any creator, you are more likely to find an asshole than not. the effect increases with increasing remove (ie they lived a long time ago).
i don’t say this to excuse what’s problematic, but i believe bad people can make good art, and also that most people aren’t angels.
i don’t particularly recall that it was intended for young adults at the time. it was just genre fiction.
as someone in a position to offer professional diagnoses, here’s my perspective - diagnostic labels can be useful, and i view them mostly as tools. their utility to me might be to communicate to another professional a cluster of traits, behaviors, indicators i’m seeing in short-hand. it might be helpful in determining which approaches could bring relief.
it can also be helpful in validating an individual’s subjective experiences, like “oh, everything is hard right now because i am dealing with depression, i’m not actually a worthless piece of shit.'” it’s also helpful to me when someone shares a self-diagnosis - i can explore what they think that means, and sometimes they’re right on the money. sometimes it means “i don’t feel i am coping effectively.”
sometimes they’re not right, but the label they have adopted can offer hints as to what’s not working. a word like autism can mean “i have a hard time connecting to others or communicating,” and maybe a another label is more appropriate or maybe the issue is their social environment.
some diagnostic labels can be verified objectively and scientifically, but in practice many are based on self-report/informant-report/observation and best fit. the fact is that diagnosis is often as much art as science when it comes to mental health, and the best diagnosis is the one that leads to improved well-being.
of course, some folks don’t like labels at all. “i’m just myself.” if they are generally happy, healthy, and functioning well, i don’t mind that either.
tldr - diagnostic labels are helpful tools that can be useful in a variety of ways.
caveat - diagnostic labels can be dangerous when they interfere with well-being or efforts toward well-being, or when they are used to harm, control, or oppress.
the bad news is that, despite growing up with pc’s and having had some level of troubleshooting skill as a result, i have forgotten most of it in the last 10 years as computing/tech has become pushy and handholdy. i suspect this is not uncommon.
edit - but i still miss xp. 😔
let’s just embrace the greater evil/demonstrable threat now then, shall we?

excellent, thank you for this! i think you and the other poster made my day!
