Speak for yourself… I have never had the thought of drugging my kid so they sleep early

For starters, the entire point of a sleepover as a kid is to stay up late, chat, eat garbage food and watch tv/video games or whatever. I have never heard of anyone wanting a sleep over so they can go to bed early in someone else’s home.

I don’t even get what the deal is with people and strict bed times; let alone during a sleepover. If you don’t want your kid to go to bed late, tell them they cannot have a sleepover.

Fuck those comments man… I have a daughter and she is fond of sleepovers… if I ever get a text from her asking for help, I would show up in that house like the Kool-aid man from hell

These apps are so bad they have recorded people “hard braking” when they are home watching TV (just check the Play store for any of them and read the reviews)… there is no way this isn’t ripe for abuse

The Raspbian OS was fine, the Emby client would not start (segmentation fault) and the performance on the web client was not great.

Now on Android, Emby client runs pretty well (better than on the FireTV sticks I am trying to replace) but I could not get Google Play working (yet) which left me without F1TV (the only “other” vid app I care about for now to run on the TV)

In America, the government intervention is whatever corporations pay politicians to say and do… it’s actually worse than pure Capitalism and they managed, through regulatory capture, to turn the government against the people or competition for their paymasters

Got my last Pi (RBP5) to try to set up a simple TV player under linux… unfortunately the performance was shit… had to go with Android and it’s barely OK (bang for buck)

With the IPO I expect RBP are going to become more expensive and significantly enshitified… so that’s that

Ok, my only goal in replying to you was to point out that, your surprise is based on some fake, very easily manipulable information… They do this manipulation in part to portrait themselves as something they are not, which is part of the PR strategy whether it works on you or not… that is all

Educated Americans, like the ones working in those big companies, know how stupid it is to make fun of someone who is already working in a second or third language… they are not the ones this meme is trying to insult

Proudly uneducated Americans, like the ones who travel to other parts of the world and demand to be spoken to in English… or the ones who have never left their county and are offended by a different sounding consonant, fit the bill perfectly

It’s pretty hard to learn another language as an American unless you’re able to travel to a place where that is used

you can always learn Spanish… with over 10% of the population in America already speaking it, it should not be hard to find someone to practice or some content catered to them to practice with

well, I think enough people from Latin America have immigrated that they have now skewed that metric… I read somewhere that, basically any other country with such a large population of bilingual individuals, declared the second language official

Those people never realized their stance is just as idiotic as “I cross the street without looking both ways because if they run me over, they’ll have to pay”… or “I have the seat belt on, I can crash at top speed and nothing will happen to me”

if it makes you change your opinion of them but not enough to either pay them or stop paying them, then it means nothing to them

you need to buy a very expensive phone to “enjoy” the sale

if it makes you not buy into their subscription, then it’s poor PR… if it makes you think they are not greedy fucks, then it’s good PR

Well that depends… if I have only $300 at the end of the month but I have already paid every bill and allocated $1,000,000 for entertainment, another $1,000,000 for personal expenses, another $1,000,000 for pet services, etc etc etc… the $300 left mean nothing… why do I need “wiggle room” when I can not just wiggle but literally run in every direction until I get tired and still not hit any limits?

The relatively small profit margin is a PR strategy… one that is working well on you giving you the false impression the company is “tight” when in reality, they are milking every bit of it before you get to that figure.

Who cares what the “company” does when, as CEO, you rake almost $400 MILLION a year
