  • Check with your employer if they will help with your continued education somehow. My employer, for example, will reimburse some tuition costs if you get a degree while working there.

    As a nurse you can continue up to and including a PhD. Or you can go to medical school and become an MD. There are many options. Try to find a few that sound interesting and learn more about them.

    If you feel you have unused potential, maybe making a change in your career is just what you need. Even if you just look into what it would take, it could put things in perspective for you.








  • Very good point, and I did not intend to make an argument about generations being different. Generations indeed consist wholly of individuals with their own opinions. On an individual level, age is no better an indicator of personality than your zodiac sign.

    In my comment I just wanted to express that, after a long period of dread, I am feeling more hopeful after seeing so many members of the young generation getting engaged and making a difference where I personally feel we failed.

    It was also meant to express appreciation and gratitude to those who are getting involved and as encouragement to those who are yet to do so.





  • For one, the United States lacks a good press corps of independent journalists with broad reach.

    Everything is either politicized or commercialized. Shock value sells. Balanced rational discourse does not. Polarization makes too much money for too many people.

    On top of that, a systematic destruction of education and a stranglehold of religion practically makes ignorance inevitable.

    Maybe we could repair it, but it would take Republicans being blocked from making any decisions for several decades at this point.
