Debian was always like this.
uwu owo etc., you know…
Debian was always like this.
ah okay, thanks, I missed this one.
Are these only “just” pulled from the online catalog, or the browser itself blocks installation too from file?
If the prior, I don’t really like this action, but my browser won’t change because of it (for now?) and also Mozilla and Firefox served me well in the past almost 20 years since I use it, I trust these guys.
If the latter… that could be a different story.
Both of them is about customization. Hard. I don’t think there’s two similar Slack or gentoo installation. So, for me, at least, it feels there’s really no need distributions of those. Maybe it’s just by definition, though.
Idk man, just wanted to look smart.
I guess kinda the same reason why there are not many distros based on Slackware.
don’t get me wrong, by no means this isn’t shitty, it is.
I’m just saying Windows too always had its tinkering with the registry or in text files, you just normally did that on the GUI or used EDIT.
Struggling with INI and SYS files are also kinda the same, but you are right, it was a far stretch
I do the same on Android
I mean, fucking with the registry was always a thing in windows
I guess she got used to the sight of drawn animals in gimp suit on my screen by that time
I don’t know if this memory of mine is real, or just a (day)dreaming or my brain just fucks with me, or just too much acid, but I clearly remember lots of years ago I opened GIMP and the splash screen had this fox IN A FUCKING GIMP SUIT!
it seems the internet has been geared towards people that think you have to ask the computer a question instead of searching for key words like how it used to work.
I mean, this is what we see/read in sci-fi series and movies at least since the 60’s.
welp, I still need to add myself to the sudo group and sudoers file, and that’s something I need a root shell for. (unless I always miss some options during setup to make my user automatically a sudoer)
dedicated “little brother” controller
My choice is Connect for Lemmy. (on Android)
Tried out a few; Voyager, Sync (for Reddit, it was the best), Jeroba and god knows what else, but Connect was the one that actually felt right.
it’s a nice little Flutter app. it feels native (sort of) to Android. The other apps were strange to me, cause they have more of iOS UI or else, or they arw PWAs or else…
The reason why I don’t use Sync is because it had strange bugs and was limited a while ago (compared to Sync for Reddit, also my purchase of it obviously lost), also has ads n shit, which is fine, understandable, if the dev would like to earn money with it, it’s a cool and complex app, it worth the money.
I recently discovered Resource Monitor (resmon) can do that, too!
I was using Unlocker waaaay back, I loved it. Since then I wasn’t looking for alternatives, but since resmon also can do that, it’s more than enough.
XSL is like that, I guess.
Some shit still use XSL at my workplace, and once I got a task with them, so… I hit up some online resources and fixed the issue.
I kid you not, from there on, I was (and still am) the XSL guy and gave me more XSL designing and work.
I mean, it’s not hard, a tiny little bit complex, but I really just spent half hour researching and some googling during work to complete these tasks, it in its own way makes sense.
But they just… aren’t willing to maintain those XSLs, because they indeed looks really ugly and scary in a way.
for some reason I still needed to know programming on paper so much so that at the university, in class prgramming we had to do the exam on paper. every time. no matter if it was Java or C++…
I strangely enjoyed it, but it still was kinda weird.
as a kid, I was the responsible for having the classroom’s key in breaks for a while.
and deep down I always had an irresistable urge to throw that key out the window, to the road outside. never did… but… it was soooo tempting. no idea, why, though 😅
I mean, most people doesn’t even question how a dude walked on water, either.
