Correct, and im no fan of the cops in general but my point mainly focuses on how so many perpetrators of these kinds of crime tend to make themselves known ahead of time so it really looks like we had enough information, and in a lot of cases we even have the law’s jurisdiction too, but still failed to take the action required. If the laws that are already there arent being enforced I struggle to think we can just keep adding laws assuming those will be enforced.

Ehh that experiment had it’s own flaws but it certainly produced some interesting results worth seeing.

I can give you a rundown on a center for disability located at local university. Before covid they directly coordinated and provided services to near 200 individuals and their families. Now they serve zero. They fired both the people who provided those direct services and now the whole center just writes papers on people they no longer serve in order to secure more funding.

Even after ending my connection with that center, the places that still offer services have shifted to more paper writing instead of more ‘boots on the ground’ work. You can’t show off boots on the ground work to academia grant funders. So now they’re a paper writing company that provides services so they can write about something. Id wager most non profits spend more than most of their time fishing for grants instead of following their mission.

The laws as they are now prevent just about every school child from buying a rifle of any kind. The cops simply hate enforcing gun laws against people they feel are just like them. How many shootings now have you read something like ‘The alleged shooter was known to police’ or someone had already complained or asked for wellness checks?

There was a while where as a fighting game player the best way to learn obscure tech or situational high damage combos was to sift through discords looking for info and it was BALLS. Lately I feel like everyone more committed to the fan wikis and maybe twitter for that stuff but oh man.

You can also edit all your high scoring comments with bizarre misinformation so the next AI scrape gets dumber.

Advertising may be your problem, but I know the government’s not taking the “we dont allow kids to be served ads”, so then what, they’re mad it’s the Chinese in the lead? The Kids aren’t gonna be better off playing COD and watching action movies both of which are lightly disguised military recruitment propaganda aimed at them. You may be mad about it but based on their actions it’s not the fact kids are getting exploited that made the Surgeon General speak out, it’s that’s kids are getting exploited and someone else is benefiting.

The mental health isn’t going to get better even if social media didn’t exist in general. People would just find a different outlet to develop maladaptive coping strategies with. Treating the symptoms isn’t gonna cure the root issue, but the root issue is expensive so we all know they’re not going to touch that.

I don’t think he believes what he says for the reasons hes claiming. I think if he’s really set on not invading it’s because hes seen how poorly its working for Russia. China wants Taiwans economy, you cant get that if Taiwan looks like Ukraine before you even get control.

If Xi is being serious it’s probably because he’s realizing he needs to take Taiwan through economic and diplomatic, and probably clandestine diplomatic means. Weather he has a plan for that remains to be seen.
