  • It is. Another indicator you get is a status icon next to each file telling you if the file is permanently or temporarily (meaning it will get auto-deleted locally if you don’t use it) dowloaded to your pc or if it’s only on the cloud.

Oh, and you also get a prompt when you delete a file letting you know that it will be deleted from onedrive as well but it will still be in the recycling bin for a while. The only way to not get that prompt is to tick a box to not get reminded again.

Microsoft software has a lot of flaws but this isn’t one of them.

  • they take it personally because to them, they’re just normal.

Maybe they (including myself) might take it personally because to them you ARE normal. Regardless of your gender, skin colour or sexual orientation.

So, if I’m treating everyone the same, why is it wrong to ask for other people to do it as well? For example, if I’m trying to talk about a certain topic and your opinion is discarded simply because “you’re cis” then yeah, I have every right to be offended. Just because I’m white and a man it doesn’t mean that I’m necessarily part of the problem.

And no, I wouldn’t presume to know how if feels to be part of a minority that has to face constant violence and discrimination but that’s precisely why I want to have the conversation, I want to better understand what other people are going through. Although, that doesn’t mean that I will (or should) agree with everything the other person says. Being part of a minority doesn’t magically make you right about everything. Just like I might be biased due to my personal context, you can be biased because of yours.

  • Apple handles Android phones the same exact way.

No, it doesn’t. You need a 3rd party app (like Android File Transfer) to access general files and that’s because Apple decided to make it harder for their users to use an android with a Mac. Why? Because they want to sell you an iPhone.

If you connect an Android device to a linux or windows pc, it simply shows up as an external device. No apps needed.

Default file browser integration exists, but only for the mobile platform they’ve invested in. MS has it out of the box for Android, Mac OS has it out of the box for iPhone.

Again, what? Windows did not invest in Android (they even tried to create their own mobile OS) and this has absolutely nothing to do with that. The only reason why you can’t access your files from an iPhone or your Android files from a Mac is because Apple makes it deliberately inconvenient. There are no other reasons.

Android uses a standard communication protocol. There was no specific android “integration”. It’s like saying that a thumbdrive working on a given OS requires specific integration for each manufacturer.
