Never too old to learn. I think Python is a great beginner language. It has fairly broad applications, and easy to set up an environment (don’t have to download/install a thousand things, you just install python and can run the text files in terminal). I also learned by doing starting in late middle school/early high school. I always found YouTube videos to be the most engaging way to get started. I used to like thenewboston. Once I had a handle on the basic programming language, I would do easy programming challenges where you have to solve some sort of basic problem. The challenges helped me learn basics like taking in input, changing the input based on the various rules and conditions of the challenges, then outputting the proper results formatted in the right way. Also helped me to think about algorithms, etc. After that, I started learning programming through a textbook. This was helpful for understanding some of the more technical aspects, basics of memory management, what different variable types are really for, OOP, abstraction, algorithms etc. I found that leaving these advanced topics till after I had a working understanding of the programming language helped understand the concepts better, and helped me understand why it’s important to learn the concepts in the first place. I was using Java for learning most of this, which might also be a good place to start for you, but I feel like python has simpler syntax to start with. In the end once you learn one language, I recommend learning more and not being stuck to any particular language. Every language has it’s own strengths and weaknesses, and understanding the commonalities and differences will only make you better in the long run.
Edit - now I use Go, python, JavaScript, R, Java, Julia, rust based on what I’m actually doing. It’s fairly easy to switch languages once you get used to basic syntax.
Don’t know if it’s a low service state. They have pretty strong welfare programs, despite what Republicans will have you believe. Their public education is ranked pretty similarly to California for K-12, if not better depending on the specific list. Their public universities are among the best in the country. Their hospitals are the best in the country.
The biggest drawback is that their legislators think they can practice medicine without having the relevant qualifications. But Californian medical laws and viewpoints have their own drawbacks. Let’s not forget, before covid, anti-vaxers were primarily associated with crunchy liberal moms refusing to vaccinate their children. California was among the first to have a resurgence of measles. CA is also a state trying to obfuscate medical roles by allowing advanced practitioners (NPs and PAs) to practice independently (without a surprising DO or MD), as well as allowing naturopaths to identify themselves as physicians. While it’s easier to see the harms of Texas’s medical laws right now, California has had it’s fair share of negative impact on it’s populous.
A lot of the Republican rhetoric is empty, meaningless, and far from the truth. This is what makes Republican politics so frustrating. They say one thing, want something else, and do something entirely different. As a liberal it makes it difficult to engage in a meaningful conversation with them. But this sort of state comparison based on broad generalizations also increases the divide, while being very unhelpful.
The summation starts at n=0 and goes up to n=inf. I think that’s pretty standard
Will we never break free of that cursed memory
Yeah but if someone is searching “why is my wife/husband yelling at me,” the statistics on abuse for that sub-popularion may not be as skewed. And providing resources for men (especially men with children) doesn’t take Google that much more effort/money, and it provides a much needed service. As it stands, it is nearly impossible for an abused man (especially one with children) to seek out help using the types of services that are available for women. So if Google can help with that search a little bit, what’s the harm in showing that info? Aaand, even for someone searching about their abusive husband, the googler may be a man, and most services that are for abused women don’t have resources for men.
I’ve actually found that I cannot add too many more ports without it being a powered USB hub. Expanding 3-4 is fine, but if you’re trying to add on like 10-15, it won’t work unless the hub is powered.
Even if they aren’t earning income, they should be able to show they had a product/prototype actually built with the patent before the company they’re using developed their product. That way legitimate patent holders who weren’t able to monetize their technology but had a working prototype will still be able to protect their patents. So many times, patent trolls hold patents to “ideas” rather than working inventions with prototypes.
Yeah I guess the employer could choose not to employ them but I don’t think they have to not employ them.
I think someone who’s committed murder is a perfect analogy actually. For people who serve their time or whatever after committing murder, there’s no legal standing for not employing them. You might feel uncomfortable as their coworker, which is totally valid. You may also believe that there is no forgiveness or second chances after committing certain crimes like rape and murder. But unless the employer has a good reason why an ex-murderer cannot perform their work duties or is currently doing illegal things at work, I don’t think they can not hire them just based off of that.
I’m not sure what you consider to be people on the ground, but one would argue the people publishing peer reviewed research in the field have dedicated a significant part of their lives to that topic and are as “on the ground” as possible when it comes to their area of expertise.
I’m not that old! I had Nickelodeon and Disney Channel and Cartoon Network, but there were still Saturday morning cartoons on WB and PBS. The Saturday morning cartoons weren’t as good as the others but it was still something special about the mornings.
Yeah most of those used to be shit but it was like a ritual every weekend. Are Saturday morning cartoons not a thing anymore?
Buy PIA VPN. Look up a guide to setup Plex, radarr, sonarr, and jackett. You can get fancier once you’re comfortable with how everything works
If someone has Texas a&m credentials they can find the dissertation here: https://library.tamu.edu/search/theses
His name is Gregory Poole.
I guess we’ll have to find out together when the show comes out!
I was thinking maybe it’s some sort of interdimensional mixup where the astronaut is in an alternate reality and that’s why she doesn’t think the daughter is right, and the daughter doesn’t think the mom is right.
Chef John is literally the best! Every time some other popular YouTube cook puts out a recipe talking about how xyz is the authentic way to do it and they take half an hour to explain everything, chef john already had a video recipe for it from 5 years ago with exactly the right/authentic ingredients and technique in a 10 min straightforward video. Or he’ll have the practical way to make something that gets you 90% of the way there with half the effort and cost. And you actually end up with something good when you follow his recipes. Especially important when making food you’ve never eaten before and have no frame of reference for how it should be.
Hasn’t this always been a possibility? People could always record their screen or take screenshots during meetings or whatever
