I started world 4 of Sparks of Hope. Finally. Haven’t been playing much because I was way too engrossed in

Arkham Knight. My story progress is currently 103%. Numbers, what do they mean? I fell through the floor today, that’s always fun.

And since last time, I did finally beat the last two monsters in Monster Hunter Rise. I originally wanted to grind out their armor sets before calling it quits, but I’m just done with that game after the several hundred hours across mutliple years. Now to anxiously wait for Monster Hunter Wilds. Anxiously because of Dragon’s Dogma 2. Please, Capcom, come back to your senses.

Ah, Congratulations on finishing Arkham Knight and Monster Hunter Rise!

Yeah, Capcom has been doing pretty well, and becoming a very good publisher, don’t know why they messed it up with DD2, a game so many people were looking forward. Let’s hope they realise it and don’t try to do the same thing for other games as well.

I haven’t beaten Arkham Knight yet, though. I thought I would when the story progress was at 98% and something quite substantial happened, but then it wasn’t over and progression was at over 100%. The game makes less sense than the Donkey Kong Country games in that regard.

As for Monster Hunter, I’m kinda worried it’s too big to fail, like Pokemon. The series has so many hardcore fans, they might easily microfinance the difference in decreased sales.

Ah, that’s weird numbering then. 😀

Well, I don’t think MH is as big as Pokémon, but I get what you are saying. Hope they don’t mess it up too bad.

Is that on Switch? I have the PC version. Thought I would enjoy it more than I did. Just ended up feeling tedious to me with all the stuff to keep track of. Farthest I ever got in my attempts to play was the beginning of Chapter 3.

Yes, on Switch. Loading times are a bit long, and with loading for everything, can get a tad bit annoying, but other than that, it’s pretty fun.

I realised you don’t have to track everything. Just keep doing dungeons, and in the downtime, do some relationship building, your kingdom quests are finished before you realise. My kingdom goals for chapter 3 were finished before first 10 days.

But not every games is for everyone, if you didn’t enjoy it, no need to force yourself.

Stardew Valley with my gf in split screen mode. First time hooking her on video games. I think the hobby would be good for her but she has reservations. I played it on PC before but I really prefer the couch multiplayer experience. Feel free to give me some suggestions what I could try next.

Playing with my six year old daughter on switch. We just finished the community center. I’d played several times before but always fizzled out, as I tend to do with games, but the couch coop is great, although part of it is the company for sure. If this was me in my youth playing with my brother, the game would be much more hostile, as they all were.

Some easy platforming games, like Yoshi’s Crafted World, or Rayman Legends (in co-op when a player dies they start hovering there in a bubble, which other player can pop to bring them back into game).

Maybe some Kirby? Or Mario 3D world, since you don’t have to worry about camera much.

2 was my favourite, but 3 was also good. Didn’t like 4 much. And haven’t played the remake yet, but with the reviews, don’t have much hope for it.

      Glad you are enjoying it!

Unicorn Overlord. I’m really enjoying it. Both the story and the gameplay. The voice acting has been good too.

    Playing Crystar!

Early impressions on the previous post.

Last week I thought I was 80% into the game, but I realized there’s a lot more story left than I expected, so this one will take a longer to finish, probably a week or two more at my current pace.

It was a really neat twist though.

    Major Crystar spoilers

You beat the final boss, get a somewhat sad ending with a lot of loose ends left and start thinking “there’s got to be a better ending, I wonder what are the requirements”.

…and then you get a messsage “There’s a new story available” and the game immediatelly loops back to the beginning. But there’s some very obvious differences from the start, like the reveal of the identity of the butterfly/soul that helps you during the prologue.

I guess the game is going into the direction of multiple timelines? And from the icons on the loading screen I think there will be 3 or 4 loops total.

At least these additional loops seem to be much shorter, it just skipped from the Prologue straight to Chapter 6 (of 8), but that still means I have a lot to go.

    Replaying 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim!

Crystar’s gameplay is kinda repetitive so I need to take breaks from time to time, and I’ve been using this to continue this replay.

Did a lot of grinding in tower defense stages, I just love those, but progressed nicely on the story too. Currently around 80% both modes.

I wanted to like the game, and I’m still planning on finishing it eventually but each dungeon is 30min of the exact same (average-at-best) combat gameplay, and I’m estimating there’s at least 40 of these required to finish the game.

I was already getting very tired of this last week and I believe I’m still only halfway through. :/

If someone ever makes a Crystar mod that cuts dungeons from 3 floors to 1 and keeps everything else the same that might be a game I’d recommend.

It’s also interesting that I think the developer did have an inkling that the dungeons were too big, there’s optional “grinding” stages that are exactly as I described with 1/3 of the size and they flow so, so much better.

                Much better.

Combat is faster paced and way more fun, dungeons are shorter (maybe even too short) and the enemies are more interesting, there aren’t really any “mobs”, they are all sort of mini-bosses that you need to be careful around as they hit really hard. It also hit a nice spot of being challenging without being too hard - I got a few game overs but it never got to the point where I was frustrated by the difficulty.

When I finished the main story for Crymachina I was thinking “I could still keep playing this for a while before I got bored of the gameplay” despite replaying several stages for extra gear/XP.
