The ground beneath the highway appeared to have caved in, along with the section of the road that had broken off.

Rescue workers have taken 30 people to the hospital, state broadcaster CCTV reported.

Highway, all lanes are completely cut off, at 2 am, with no nearby street lights in sight. Those drivers probably didn’t even see it coming. Even if you’re a drifting god, you probably can’t escape it unless you can jump the guardrails like the speedracer to the opposing lanes. After a pile of burning cars lit the area, people noticed something was off and started slowing down and avoided doom.

Im guessing a few cars stopped/had to stop/were stopped by a severely cracked or missing road & then the rest behind them had to stop too. Im guessing that’s when the main/larger section caved.

On a busy road it could take far less than a minute for 18 cars to pile up. And at 2am ppl prob didn’t see enough to fully comprehend the situation.

Also since it was running water that caused the cave in, all cars fell/slid towards the lowest point:

I’m not sure how much I’d trust the road in either direction from the part that slid. It kind of looks similar.

This is just western propaganda. Libs flew in and raided the nearest morgue and then threw the corpses and wrecked cars all over to make it look like China has ever had an issue with infrastructure.
