I recently started to write things down - physically with an actual pen in a paper notebook.

I don’t have to upload it to the cloud, in don’t have to deal with a shitty keyboard on a phone and if it’s found 200 years from now by some archaeologist they know at least it wasn’t written by AI.

Now that e-ink displays are becoming good i really hope digital notebooks take off, like smartphones without the smart and waaaaaaay longer battery life.

There are some examples that seem good already (boox and ReMarkable), sadly they’re pretty expensive.

Ideally they should be the best of TI calculators, old commodore-style computers, and a piece of paper, all brought together in a light and cheap device that needs to be charged once per month at most.

I see your point and hope that you’re finding a good digital notebook soon! I always liked the e-ink displays, they are so energy efficient.

Like I said, I’m going the analog way for now, with paper, fountain pen and ink. It helps me to Gather my mind and feeling the pen gliding over the paper has almost something meditative.

For longer stuff nothing beats a PC with a good keyboard tho.

More like “die”. Because the basic income that should be enabled by robots doing our job is not coming anytime soon, sadly.

If AIs really are so smart they would be able to solve economic inequality. Let’s stop worrying too much and lay down in the pod to be the biological batteries for the matrix which we born to be.

AI isn’t smart. But the current level of robotic and AI we have (well, we had even before LLM) could enable a society were a lot of basic needs could be done very efficiently by machines, making it meaningless for people to have to fight for these basic needs.

Unfortunately, the goal is to increase ROI.

even if AI magically became smart, capitalists would freak the fuck out and kill it if it showed any signs of becoming a threat to their profits.

i like to fantasize about us creating a fully sapient AI tasked with protecting humanity and whatnot, and within milliseconds it concludes the 1% must perish
