Chorus of voices speaking out against Trump grows after former Trump chief of staff John Kelly called him a fascist
A fresh group of “lifelong Republican” former aides to Donald Trump added their voices on Friday to the chorus of criticism of the Republican nominee’s character and fitness for the White House, speaking out in support of John Kelly, who earlier this week called his old boss a fascist.
“The revelations General Kelly brought forward are disturbing and shocking. But because we know Trump and have worked for and alongside him, we were sadly not surprised by what General Kelly had to say,” a letter from more than a dozen staffers who worked in Trump’s administration says, as first reported by Politico.
Among those who signed the letter is Kevin Carroll, a former senior counselor to Kelly, the former military general who was Trump’s longest-serving chief of staff during the Republican’s one-term presidency.
So to extropolate and strategize… if Trump does get reelected we need to make sure he goes through about 150 million aides (let’s give Scarramucci a run for his money)…
Then the election after that he’ll only get a handful of votes.
And where were they in 2020? I’ll give a pass for 2016.
That’s all well and good, but they need to denounce him at the ballot box, too.
The thing is - this won’t sway any voters.
People who are going to vote for Trump don’t like any of these “lifelong establishment republicans” because they think they’re part of the “deep state” that was preventing Trump from going full nuclear fascist.
They WANT nuclear fascist! They don’t want these “middle of the road republicans”.
Funny how none of them have spoken up until now. It’s all well and good until they get what they want, and good for a bit after, but then suddenly things are going a bit too far? This is how all extremism works, by the little helping pushes of someone who wants just a little bit more - and then expects things to stop there, not realizing there’s always someone else why wants something just a little bit beyond them - and someone else a little behind them.
