  • Honestly 95% of Jira complaints are because people have crap workflows configured. Out of the box Jira is pretty terrible but it’s very customisable and you need to adjust it to suit your needs - and they have to be your needs and workflows.

That being said, there’s that last 5% that Jira just gets in the way. If anyone has ever had multiple teams working on a single product, Jira is very prescribed about how you’re supposed to structure that and If you don’t, it’s a pain.

I thought this was dumb as fuck, but I think I understand what Microsoft is trying to do here.

What might not be obvious is that this “Windows” app is for iOS, Android and Linux - yes, it’s a replacement for remote desktop but it’s specifically a remote desktop app to connect to Windows machines.

So while I still this this rebranding is entirely unnecessary, I can see that they are trying to clearly distinguish “I’m not on windows and I need to do something on windows so I’ll use the windows app for that” .

It also means less confusion when “remote desktop” doesn’t let you connect to your Mac or whatever.

  • Yup after first seeing this video we switched to powder - which was harder to find than I expected as everywhere sells tablets these days, but the difference was stark. My dishwasher doesn’t even have a prewash compartment but I just sprinkle some powder in the door chamber and that works well enough.

Since this I rarely have any issues with dirty dishes. The only problem I have is occasionally glasses will get covered with baked on dirt particulate, but I’m assuming that’s just my dishwasher being crap (I always clear out the filter between washes).

  • This actually is an improvement. Not everyone wants to be on camera and for those folks, getting pushed off to the sidebar often means they’re overlooked.

This at least means they’re given the same importance as anyone else.

No idea what the rant about presentations is about, when anyone presents it becomes the main content and everyone - camera or not - gets pushed to the sidebar. You can also pop out presentation content to give it it’s own dedicated window.

I hate teams as a communication platform, but the presentation and meeting views are actually pretty well done compared to the competition.

  • I feel like a huge aspect that this article and the GrapheneOS developers are overlooking is DRM content.

They’re focusing on user security for a user’s own data, but there’s a whole other side to it with companies wanting to protect their own data - think Netflix and the like who use the same systems to ensure that nobody’s been tampering with the device as a way of bypassing the copy protection of their media.

Now I’m not saying I support DRM at all, I’m very firmly in the camp of being able to own the media you purchase without restriction, but my point is that it’s not as simple as Google being dismissive, lazy or ignorant but rather there’s a lot of commercial sensitivity at play and if Google fucks it up, they could potentially lose certification of the entire android ecosystem.

  • I don’t follow Tommy Robinson much for obvious reasons, but I have been watching various right wing telegram groups since they organised a protest riot near me.

What’s weird (or at least unexpected to me) is they don’t seem to like him either, claiming he’s Jewish (which of course they have an issue with) and funded by Israel?

It might well be that this is a particularly extreme right wing group, but I’m still very confused at this point.

Either way, fuck the lot of them.
