Cake day: September 7th, 2023

  • Personally I just like my colleagues so it’s fun to be around them for the most part, and there are better lunch options around the office in my case (plus I’d never bother going somewhere when I’m home anyway). It being easier to just quickly ask a question is nice too. Also gets me actually out of the house and cycling for ~40 minutes a day. I also get way more done at work because working at the same pc I spend 90% of my free time at is not great at motivating my brain to do work.

Still, if I didn’t have the option to just stay home when I don’t feel like going to the office/am waiting for a package or something, I’d find that very annoying.

  • The second highest voted thing is mildly misleading because left parties are a lot more fractured, especially in EU elections. The afd could have 11% while 9 left wing partirs have 9.8% and be the most voted party, but that would be a better result than we have now with it being the second most voted.

The results are bad, but 16% is at least nowhere nesr a majority. I’m honestly more concerned about the CDU moving closer to the afd and still ending up with 30%, seems almost like many people don’t like the afd because they’ve been told afd bad, but still agree with much of their ideology.

  • There are animal haters that poison them. It’s not entirely a false equivalency.

The issue with it mainly comes from dogs being a different species while humans are still just humans and someones skin color has no significant correlation to their behaviour.

It’s still similarly stupid to hate all dogs by default because dogs still have personalities and some can be just fine. And I say this as someone that doesn’t like most dogs either.

  • More like because finding english speaking actors is a lot easier in an english speaking country, and also the writer likely doesn’t speak every language that would be relevant. Plenty of countries don’t get dubs of movies or series and people can still understand and enjoy them just fine. Though it probably increases appeal or there just wouldn’t br dubs.

It’s easy to say everyone should have human rights. But what if one person goes against anothers human rights? What is a just punishment?

And that’s before even getting into what rights people should have. You can very easily have everyone be theoretically equal while still effectively disadvantaging some people (and getting rid of that entirely is not even possible, we can just minimize it). There’s a lot to debate.

What I don’t get is why there would ever be a debate about excluding some people from human rights without them first violating others’. The only argument for that is “if we oppress this group, this other group will have better lives”. Which is often true, sure, but that’s just being a selfish asshole.

I once failed a test in politics class because after examining both sides I stated this issue does not affect me and I can see merit in both positions, therefore I do not have an opinion on the correct course of action.

Not like the grade mattered in the slightest but that was actual bullshit.

Oh yea, I’d never question anyone having a hard time. In the context of the meme specifically it doesn’t make much sense to question things, now that I think about it. If only autistic people go “yea sounds about right” there’s a good chance you’re autistic anyway.

But I’ve seen it personally where ppl match some symptoms and become utterly convinced they must have a specific disorder, and it doesn’t make sense either. There’s no huge harm to it but esp an awareness of differential diagnosis seems to be lacking.

That’s not even remotely what they said lmao

It’s pretty clear that there tends to be a lack of differential diagnosis and inability to judge severity of symptoms when it comes to self-diagnosis. People see some matching symptoms and go “I must have this!” when it could be 20 other things.

Though i also dunno if needing treatment or special care is the best metric to use since it’s very possible to have ASD and just get by with masking (obv not in all cases).

  • Hard to interpret from that song, the lyrics seem more critical of european imperialism and the response to immigration (shooting immigrant boats) than the opposite to me. I can’t find anything about right wing lyrical themes in oomph songs from a quick google in german either, so I wouldn’t worry I guess. Maybe someone knows more.

  • Oh, it’s the trans version of being gay is a choice i guess…

Would explain a lot, because to most transppl the thought of someone wanting to be what they were assigned at birth makes no sense whatsoever. But regardless it’s not hard to accept that others might feel like you do but in reverse. Shows one hell of a lack of empathy to then conclude that must mean anyone claiming they do want to must have ulterior motives.

Maybe that at least means there’s hope for her to realize what kind of bs she’s spouting, but she’s probably a lost cause.
