I think what they mean is that when you buy the game on Steam, you can’t just download the game files through their website. You need to install their client. Which can be seen as a form of DRM.
Yes, these fees are completely reasonable. Do they think hosting and maintaining a platform costs nothing?

This might be interesting. I’m looking to have a few installs to test some of my programs in an actual Windows environment without having to daily drive Windows and without having to deal with all the unnecessary changes MS wants to make.
Are you saying they should install Linux?
I know Rufus has options to modify the Windows image before writing it to your USB stick but AFAIK Balena can’t write Windows images.
Can you imagine installing Windows and having to install 10 seperate programs just to fix all the issues with it?

Could work in theory. Back then there it had sonething like 40 volts going through the line and you needed some decent power to make the bell in the phone ring.
But I don’t know if that’s still in use these days.
