So unlucky that 2023 was brimming with awesome games so AW2 had to compete with them all. Winning best narrative awards against BG3 was remarkable, and I honestly think it was well earned.
Comparatively, yes - that’s auditory masking for you. On a relatively quiet place like a home, these will sound like rats running wild in your pipes.
If you eyeballing these, please remind that these babies tend to be LOUD AS FUCK, so might not be suitable for home server use.
Steam Deck put them back in the race already.
SteamOS is flourishing with the popularity of the Deck, helping Linux to become a stable gaming platform with Proton and driver support.
It’s also great as a HTPC when connected to a TV. HDR support for external displays arrived just recently.
I think it’s just a matter of time SteamOS jumping from Deck to custom PC builds.
No Mount & Blade either :/
One thing no one will tell you HOW LOUD some HDDs could get under load. You may not want any of those disks around if you’re keeping your server around your living spaces.
Just check dB values in the spec sheets.
This game feels like the perfect candidate for streaming from XCloud/GeForce Now since all those data doesn’t really need to be transferred all the time. And the game’s design can tolerate a bit input latency.
Sound designer here. I always liked to tinker with digital stuff, and while I think %90 of the self hosted apps must’ve been simple .EXEs, I’m having fun setting them up around.
Director had a wonderfully bad take about last two CIV games that’s still been on Steam’s daily concurrent top 100 games after all these years.
Minecraft singlehandedly created a genre called “Survival”.
I think most of the games around 2005’s Indie Game Boom created lots of brilliant mechanics that’s been copied still.
Point is, it’s near impossible to find a dumb tv with good specs. Like LG is producing no-smart version of LG C3 (best display ever so far), but it’s only sold to businesses.
It would still take 375000 Rooneys to deplete Musk’s wealth.
Kill the techno-feudal lords.
People doing production on their MacBooks might be a target per the small form factor.
It’s a great entry point for Self Hosting. I learned a lot with it about hard to grasp concepts.
Used it for years until I felt ready to move on to Docker.
Ubisoft games do after a year or two. Star Wars games as well. So why not?
I’d really like to see 2023 GOTY dev snatches Fallout from 2023 shit dev’s hands (Starfield, anyone?)
Owning a high end Apple device strongly suggests owning a high end console as well. Maybe the target demographics (rich gamers) already own those games on their favorite platform, so why buy it twice.
Looks cool!
How about the sound and the music? Are you doing these yourself as well?
You meant which storefront, Xbox or PS5?
