Tumblr was awful for Discourse™️, there are some legendary headass takes originating from there. A lot of those people moved to Twitter after the Tumblr porn ban, and it slowly has gotten less insufferable.
I’m really surprised that people don’t make the connection that Twitter Discourse™️ is Tumblr Discourse™️ but short form. I genuinely think Twitter got magnitudes worse after the Tumblr migration, especially if you’re on the music/media/fandom side.

I didn’t get to play Minthara though because I didn’t know she was a companion and killed her in Act 1…
Oh my gosh, you too? I swear there are so many of us 😭
I’m doing a co-op play through with friends, and one of us accidentally started combat with her and killed her. We didn’t even realise we were missing someone until Act III where there’s a visible empty spot where she clearly should be and we googled the roster of companions.
Oh shit did House of Dragons start again???
No, in regards to Elon, he has always been a weirdo with women, starting with his first wife according to this essay published in 2010.
I really urge people to read it if you haven’t already, there are some great tidbits in there like him saying “I’m the alpha” as they were having their first dance at their wedding (hilarious stuff).
None of the claims in the Verge article are surprising if you ever read Justine Musk’s essay.
I’m so glad someone mentioned this, no one in my gaming circles even played AW2 and it makes me sad.
I don’t think many people would claim overall valuation has much of anything to do with the value labor brings to an organization.
Apologies, can you clarify what exactly you mean by this? Because when I say their labour is not being valued, I do extend that to the Wall Street orgs that are doing the evaluations. They look at the “product” on offer, not the people actually working and developing it.
Are you saying because stock prices aren’t steady, we can’t correlate that to salaries?
Very true. I personally know two people who were at Nvidia who have retired/are in the process of leaving now, and it hasn’t been a hassle for them personally. That obviously doesn’t speak for everyone ofc.
I also think Nvidia wants to buy back as many shares as possible from their employees like every other big public tech giant is doing right now.
Brilliant, thanks for this!
I said in a comment on mastodon that I don’t think the batch of newer employees hired at Nvidia are going to have anywhere near the same compensation as the current employees do, and this kind of helps support my suspicions…
Which could lead to a morale problem in the company too (speaking from experience)
Well, they technically will see SOME cents of this because I’m pretty sure Nvidia gives employees stocks too.
But yeah, I also posted this because it’s a clear illustration of how most salaries will never reflect the value your labour brings to an organization.
I’m like 90% sure Nvidia employees get stock options, but I’m not sure if that’d be the case for the newest batch of hires.
But yeah, this is a clear cut illustration of how salaries undervalue the actual labour provided, I don’t think any Nvidia employee’s getting 100M from their stocks + salary.
So many come to mind…
But also, idk if asklemmy is the right audience for this question, friend…
I’m not sure what type of humour this is called, but man I love this shit. It’s like…almost a non-sequitor.
Gets me every time.
Thanks for the clarification, I only saw an abridged clip of MTG’s original comment and AOC looking frustrated, so I thought the comments were towards her and not Crockett.
I mean she started it, it’s a response from another Congresswoman after MTG attacked AOC’s appearance.
(Shout out to the remixes of Bleach Blonde Bad Build Butch Body on soundcloud)
It’s so interesting that there are comments about how people can mute/block people if they get harassed, but nothing about the people doing the actual unhinged harassment. It seems personal responsibility only should be for the victims of harassment…
On the topic itself, I actually know someone who works at Riot that is working on their “player management” tools, and the amount of data they have driving these is fascinating. The datasets they have are global, and aside from Vanguard, apparently there are certain toxicity trends that are so niche (in the Chinese servers, for example), you have to tune for the other server data sets for it (they weren’t really clear on how this works).
I really wish I could see what the backend of this tech is like, very few games have 10+ years of player and esports data to train their LLM/AI models.
Option 4: It’s modern SqEnix, their executives couldn’t profit from selling popcorn at a movie theatre.
