    Honestly though, by far the largest use of oil is as an energy source.

    97% of fossil fuels are used as energy source. 3% of fossil fuels are used to make plastics.

    Since the world emits around 54.6 billion tonnes of CO2eq, plastics were responsible for around 3.3% of global emissions.
