Probably for the same reasons a lot of us humans are drinking alcohol and smoking tobacco. And eating intense amounts of sugar.

This seems like the most sane take.
A computer can do a lot. But if you give the computer to a regular fish instead of a regular human, that’s just a regular fish next to a computer. Not very useful.
I’m boosting this and the screenshots too, but just thought I’d point out for quick scrollers that it does not seem as dramatic as this comment initially lets you believe.
I mean it’s awkward, but just seems more like your usual social awkwardness/incompetence than malicious behavior as such.
The way I understand the word, it’s more of a “fling”, or a short-term relation, as opposed to something long-lasting or structured. Which, for example, can be fully okay and include no shadiness if it’s communicated with the partner or partners.
I guess words change meaning over time, and since the default has been monogamy for so long, the word is still stigmatized and associated with cheating since it means something short?
As an example, single people can often be heard to have had vacation affairs, which wouldn’t imply cheating since they are single. But the word is used in that context too.
I’m not sure if an affair directly implies cheating.
There are many ways to coexist with a partner or partners, and many ways to cheat or otherwise lie/conceal stuff.
Neither as a premise include an affair, but both certainly can.
Really feel like they’ve employed a PR firm with real touch to the grass. Lately it’s been just a lot of really sensible stuff they signal outwards, that I think not many would oppose, other than predatory capitalistic structures and institutions. It’s really refreshing. Big thumbs up!
In the very rural areas I would assume there to be ambulance/rescue helicopters, boats and snowmobiles etc that get dispatched. I was born and lived most of my life in a very rural area with the closest actual hospital with proper 24/7 er and more advanced surgery etc capabilities being some 160km away. Roads and road-bound vehicles just aren’t a thing you’d want to use or depend on in an emergency, if you live that rurally. So that’s really not a good argument to make, in my opinion, though maybe if you lived in the US, you wouldn’t have that and if you did, it’d bankrupt you if you made use of it, so you were going to be fucked either way. It’s dangerous to depend on rural roads if your only recourse is speeding. That’s just endangering everyone else too, be it only you as the driver the extra casualty. So the answer isn’t keeping the current dangerous system dangerous, rather maybe reconsider the way emergency response and general welfare and healthcare is organized and structured… if something like this would one day push you guys there, then I’d consider that only good. This is assuming you are from US of course. But I can’t really see any other country lacking basic services and needs like that, if internet and proficiency in English language as well as access to cars is taken as granted, which would mostly rule out third world countries since we are talking about rural areas.
I bet my right testicle that the very reason Sony and others have started bringing console ports to steam, is that steam has promised not to compete in the same space. Or something like that. Otherwise removing all those from steam is just something that’ll probably happen if they do enter the market again.
Then again, Steam Deck is a little bit in that direction. So perhaps not.
Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. Both amazing games (latter after the many updates that brought it over to the good side).
If it’s “too” long (really, no such thing, but situationally this can be the reality) it can happen that life turns so that there’s no more time, and when I try to get back, too much time has passed and I can’t orientate myself anymore, can’t remember where I was and what I was doing etc.
On the other hand, I can’t start again either, for a few years, because I remember everything before the point I left off at, once I get into the places and puzzles and whatnot.
Annoys me to no end.
But c’est la vie.
Well, despite all the good work and against common sense, surprisingly many still turn bigot. But much less so, luckily.
Seems like some people just can’t be content and happy, no matter what. And you have to direct that anger or bitterness or whatever to something. Too often it’s hate.
I’m actually in a similar relationship, though not due to design or will, just life and happenstance.
My so has a great job with good schedule and it’s her “soul” job, not sure what the word is in English but maybe you understand.
I’m, on the other hand, struggling with finding a career I could sustain. I have ADHD so it’s kinda tough, but we make it work perfectly.
Nowadays I study an engineering degree, so I’m home keeping the place neat and cooking for her and all that, and she provides the funds for all kinds of fun activities and all the rest you know, food and such included. I don’t mind, though at first my toxic masculinity kind of fought against that and I had a period of feeling bad about it. But we talk a lot and are good with it, so we went through it and it’s been nice since.
But I can imagine it’s hard for a man without prior experience of such a situation, to acclimate. But I think everyone can acclimate to it and get used to it. Just need to have very good communication to get through the first rough couple of months.
I can now see the importance of safeguards!
Now hold on a moment, I think we need to at least discuss this whole removing France thing further…
Salmiakki. Not the kind of similar salted liqourice, but actual proper salmiakki. Haven’t had a variation of that so far that wasn’t amazing and addictive
Do you think any of that makes any sense? If you read what you’ve written here, can you make sense of that yourself?
Are they decent? Or complete, as in it has the entire main story at least in? I’d be very interested. Played fo1 halfway through when I was playing a lot of the infinity engine classics some years ago, it was great, but a lot of fairly simple QoL stuff was needed for me to finish it. I’m now playing the fo3 and new Vegas in the TTW mod (with the Begin Again modlist) and it has been great with all the QoL stuff baked in. Never played fallouts other than the first before now, kind of amazed it took me so long to give the threes a go, seeing as I’ve had them in my steam library for ages…
Oh how I wish the same was true for languages other than English too… autocorrect has always been borderline unusable with my (granted, smaller) language, and this is true for all of the applications of autocorrect, be it android or iOS or whatever.
Well, you might reconsider whether thinking like that actually makes the world much less fun and tolerable to live in than not. No reason to be so cynical and self-centered, friend.
I’m guessing the situation being as dire as it is, as reported lately, they are desperate to use any bit of rhetoric or leverage they can. Being silent doesn’t really help securing the support they so acutely need. Maybe this doesn’t either, but at least they remain in the news cycles around the globe, which helps still.
I would assume that since this whole thing is more or less a result of left-ish policy, and the opponent in the scenario is the far-right platform formerly known as Twitter, lead by the aspiring far-right icon Musk, the right-wingers would more likely opt to complain, cry several rivers and eventually turn to alternatives catered specifically for them (not even sure which ones are still alive after former tweetyplace took the crown) instead.
Haven’t done a vibe check on bluesky, but I assume it almost has to be more tolerant and potentially more progressive-ish than the old nazibirdhouse. If you lean towards the far right, why choose that, if alternatives exist?
