    My wisdom:

    • “The United States of America” is not a name but a description
      • It’s a bad description since there’s multiple unions of states in america

Tell that to Austria - Österreich. That means “Eastern realm”, since there are no countries more to the East of anything than them. Or hell, Iceland. And Niger is named after the river Niger, which might come from ger-n-ger meaning “river of rivers”, so that’s another wonderfully unambiguous name.

I’m sure there are other great examples.

It’s funny because our neighbor is also literally called United States, Estados Unidos Mexicanos.

I’m talking about the name, we were “United states of Brazil” from our republic until 1968, after that the name changed to “Federation republic of Brazil”. I’m dont know a lot about how powerful states were back then, so what changed, but today states in Brazil have a little fraction of the independence that US states have.

Hate hate hate that there’s no one cute unambiguous unabbreviated name for the United States of America:

    • United States: welcome to the large club of other United States
    • America: just like the rest of the Western Hemisphere
    • oh btw United and States or literally mutually exclusive adjectives: United means together; States means not together

No other country has “America” in the name, so “America” works. What other country could it possibly be?

United means together; States means not together

      Hence “E pluribus unum.”

Honestly? If we allow any other territory or country into the union, I personally feel we should rename to The United States of Humanity. The end goal of the US is a Diplomatic victory, since we already have claimed Economic Victory.
