I heard that some ball pythons we have in captivity were originally caught or bred for the meat trade. Apparently rattlesnake meat is a whole cowboy culture thing and there exist snake tacos. I don’t think anyone eats Burmese pythons which the one in this photo is either that or reticulated. In China there is snake soup. Apparently they taste somewhere in between chicken or fish. I don’t know how I feel about this, other than from an energy standpoint eating predators feels inefficient.
